jeffs film club - into the wild

in line with the winter catalogue's theme of living off the land, i thought i'd recommend a film to you guys.

summary (from imdb): Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life.

amazing direction from sean penn, an excellent performance from emile hirsch and potrayals of characters so good it makes me wish i'd met them too, earned this film a solid 9 out of 10 from me. and i'm pretty picky about where i put my 9's these days.

if you've seen it before, let us know what you thought. if not, do it! it's amazing and inspiring.
