I thought I was suffering from double vision as I passed ade's desk just now. But no.

Off to Cardiff

Hayley is gearing up for the three day Cardiff sample sale, which starts tomorrow.

She's a veteran now, I think this will be her 3rd or 4th sale.

She's got a lot of great stock to take along, including a few spring lines, fresh from the pages of our last catalogue.

There are mens and womens jeans, shorts and shirts, some merino, t-shirts and the usual one-off samples, stuff with missing buttons and sticky zips.

There will be some amazingly good deals. But as always, things will sell out fast, so it's best to get in early if you're looking for something special!

The sale will be held at this address:

Morgan Arcade,
CF10 1AF

Opening times:

Thursday 14th May - 12:30pm til 5pm
Friday 15th May - 9am til 5pm
Saturday 16th May - 9am til 5pm

Sunshine not Spreadsheets

Let me get something straight... I'm a data geek.

I like making sense of numbers and comparing trends.

But if I'm being honest, formatting spreadsheets isn't fun.

Sure, it can be interesting and satisfying, but it's not proper fun.

This is especially obvious on days like today...

The sun is shining and the flowers are out and the sky is blue and the water is warm and... you get the point.

Sunshine not spreadheets.

7 Track Challenge

Today, I set off with my iPod on. Set to random.

I wanted to get in within the time it took to play 7 tracks. One per mile.

I thought this would be about 25-30 minutes.

Most of my tracks seem to be about 3m 30s or so.

I ended up getting to work 45 seconds after the 7th track ended.

Will try harder next time.

Or hope for longer tracks!

London to Brighton for £56

We just received this email from one of our customers --

Last year, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent 9 months
of treatment - chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. She is now taking
drugs every day to help prevent the cancer returning and is on the road to
recovery from the side effects of treatment.
The suffering of a long day in the saddle does not begin to compare with
what she has been through, but myself and some of our friends wanted to
undertake a challenge that reflected a little of Louise's suffering and some
of the humour with which she tackled her illness, and raise money for
Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a charity funding research to improve diagnosis,
treatment and care for breast cancer sufferers.
Most of us are keen cyclists used to riding modern racing or mountain bikes,
we ride for the fun and the challenge, some commute to work by bike, a few
of us have ridden on the track, but we generally use the right bikes for the
job - and so we have undertaken a different kind of cycling challenge - 56
miles for no more than £56 spent per bike, maximum 3 gears, London to
Brighton via Box Hill and Ditchling Beacon. This ride is about the
camaraderie of cycling, the madness of cyclists and a very good cause. You
can read more on our Justgiving page, as well as see an example of the kind
of bikes we are talking about.
Is there anything you can do to help?

I rode into work today. First time in weeks. (hey, I was ill...)

Started a bit early and took a longer than usual route in. 10 miles.

Got to work and Ade made what could be the strongest coffee I've had this year.

And I keep forgetting we just had a bank holiday and thinking it's Monday.

But it's not.

So in general, I reckon all these things add up to a good start to the week.

We just updated the website for summer... check out the lovely new stuff!

Some of you may also have received the new summer 2009 catalogue today, but don't panic if you didn't, they'll be landing on doormats all over the country during next week.

Here's a photo of the boys at Rocket (our mailing house) preparing the next batch for dispatch -

Thanks, guys!

t-shirt of the week

This week's T-shirt of the Week is 'Thanks'.
Designed by innocent.

"innocent is ten years old this week, and to celebrate howies have let us design this week's t-shirt. Thank you howies.
It's a big thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far. Without those people, we'd just have an expensive fruit crushing hobby.
It's also a pretty good thank you present for someone who's allergic to flowers and chocolate.

We hope you like it. Thanks again from innocent".

Up to 40% off in the Spring Sale!

The swallows are back (one flew in through a window and woke my mum up this morning)

The sun is spending longer in the sky.

And I know most of us would rather be spending longer in the outdoors.

But if you are inside for some reason, and you're maybe looking for a bargain, then you might be interested in our spring sale.

It started just now, so the bargains are as fresh as the daisys I keep seeing popping up in every patch of grass.

Hurry though, when you're selling gold at silver prices, things tend to sell out fast.
