Crazy Horse is this weeks limited edition tee of the week.

(There are also some other colours available for both men and women, click the pictures above to see more)

Interestingly, Crazy Horse was never photographed.

So he's one of the only well known Native Americans whose image is remembered in drawings alone.

I have a book called 'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee' which is all about the fall of the Native American tribes, and it has photos of plenty of other chiefs.

This is Young Man Afraid Of His Horses:

T-shirt of the week

This week's t-shirt of the week is 'Crazy Horse', by Pete Davies & Tim March.

Crazy Horse fought with Sitting Bull at the Battle of Little Bighorn.

They won that battle, but sadly lost the war and lived to see their ancestor's homelands torn away from their children and covered with concrete, railways and Disney Lands.

The Native American's tenacious desire to defend the lands they lived in is something we can all take inspiration from even today, as our rights to live on the land are being restricted and dictated by our governments

We've really pushed the boat out this week, and we've printed the tee on lots and lots of colours!

Carnaby Powercut

  • 9 April 2009

There are some problems with London's power supply, and Carnaby street is currently blacked out.

Unfortunately, this means we have had to close the shop for a bit, but as soon as the power is back, the doors will reopen.

Time to get the candles out.

The Ride

We just received a delivery of The Ride magazine, issue 2. It looks beautiful.

It has created quite a stir in the office, with many staff keen to get their orders in.

We don't have many, but anything that survives the bike mad howies staff in full feeding frenzy mode will be going up online later today... I have a feeling they'll be selling out fast so you're going to have to be quick if you want to get your hands on a copy.

We will also be sending a very limited quantity (just 21, in fact) to each of the howies shops in London and Bristol, so if you're around this weekend drop by to check it out, I promise it'll make you happy. London have theirs already and Bristol will be getting theirs on Saturday.

Only 2000 of these were printed. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Just received an email from Casper at Power Shift, an interesting sounding UK youth event focussed on environmental issues and global warming.

"We're recruiting for Power Shift - the largest youth climate event in British history.  Our team of 19 (all unpaid volunteers with buckets of energy and passion) is going to grow, and we'd love to include people from your network : )

It's going to be perfect for people who like....

to organise music events
include new people and recruit new faces (especially in N. Ireland, Wales, Scotland and the beautiful North)
organising a day of action
being very precise and do logistics "

Check out their website if you're interested!

Printshop Special!

For those who are thrifty but know a good deal when you see one, we hope this meets you well.

The boys (Tidy Mike, Paul and Tom) in the Printshop are a little quiet. The good weather has sent people rushing outside to enjoy the best two weeks of sun we've had in ages, so they've been catching up on every new YouTube skateboarding edit that's been released in the last few weeks.

Now they've seen them all, they want some work to do, so they came up with this idea - if can you help them get a bump start we can do this great deal.

Spend £100 and get a free tee. It's a Printshop special.

Choose any t-shirt we have in stock. Mens here, Womens here.

Just quote the code FREET8 to the folk in customer service 01239 614 122, or enter it online.

Due to our sometimes clunky but soon to be updated website, the cost of the T-shirt will show up on your basket at checkout but don't worry we'll discount it as we process the order.

You can also use this offer in our Carnaby Street shop and in our new Bristol shop. Just make sure you take the code along with you.

*Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or on sale items. Offer ends April 6th 2009

Spring is in. Soup is out.

Interesting information from Google.

Here's a graph showing how UK search volumes for soup follow clearly defined seasonal trends.

Butternut Squash is on a roll.

Any other (geeky) seasonal observations, anyone?

Jeans that Last

One of our customers sent these photos in, along with a letter --

"Many a moon ago, howies was lovely enough to send me a pair of Jeans. They arrived the same day my Robinson Rukus arrived. I thought I'd let you know that they lasted a bit longer than the Rukus.....quite a lot longer actually. The Rukus got stolen about 3 years later, an experience I'm sure you're all too common with.

The jeans have seen me through thick and thin. They ripped, so i repaired them, many a summer came and went, and they got so screwed up at the bottom I made them into shorts.  Many a patch later and they're still going strong. They're just about to celebrate their 8th Birthday....older than my Nephew!

So yes, your Jeans last. Thanks howies

Pointless, but I thought you might like to know.

Best, Euan"
