We like Busy

I really like being busy...

Getting stuff done of the best feelings. It's especuially good when your work feels worthwhile.

There's been lots of that kind of Busy around howies lately.

For example, today Ade and his team loaded up the van with stuff for Bristol - They've got the till, the counter, the rocking chairs, the nice rug, the cupboards, the ironing board, iron, washing machine and the bath (but no kitchen sink...) they also loaded up the safe, the golf balls, the hoover, the mop, the merino wool fleece, the glass tank and the oak sucessor tree and the picture frames. (drop by when we open if any of these sound odd, it should all make sense when you see the shop)

Oh, and they also took a load of clothes. Quite important.

And the sample sale is happening tomorrow, so there was a lot of stock to count and load up. Me, Kim, Harri, Emma, Hollie, Adam, Tom, David, James and Simon were working on that at various points throught the day...

Ade is now on his way to Bristol in his fully-laden van, Anna, Will and Matt are waiting for him to arrive so they can start making the shop look good and filling it with stuff to sell, and we just finished packing up the two vans which will be heading to London for the sale tomorrow.

There's a lot of van action going on today.

Hayley just left for the station on her way to London to start setting up the sample sale.

I was down in the other warehouse with Kim this morning, counting the stock out. There's some really good stuff in there, including a couple of jumpers and jackets I had my eye on for myself... I let them go in the end, though. I expect someone else's need is greater than mine!

Please remember to bring your own bag to the sample sale, as we will not be handing any out.

The sale will run from Thursday to Sunday and will be held in the Dray Walk Gallery on Brick Lane in London:

The sale will be open from

  • 6pm til 9pm on Thursday 27th Nov
  • 10am til 8pm on Friday 28th Nov
  • 11am til 7pm on Saturday 29th Nov
  • 11am til 5pm on Sunday 30th Nov

Our new shop in Cardigan opened it's doors on Saturday, down by the river.

It all looks great! We're really happy to have a shop open in our home town.

We have loads of great stuff down there, and a couple of rocking chairs where you can sit and relax looking out over the river.

If you pop in this week, you can get a token for free cuppa from the lovely people at Fforest Outdoor!

London Sample Sale!

We have some exciting news for people who like bargains.

howies has teamed up with some great brands - People Tree, THTC, Tera Plana, Komodo, Vega and Hug to hold a sample sale on London's Brick Lane this weekend!

Ade usually runs the sample sales, but he's been really busy latley, so he has handed the sample sale crown to Hayley. She will be joined by James from our warehouse, who's also been on one of our sample sales before, and David, who deals with the shipments coming in from our factories.

This will be Hayley's second sample sale, and the first time she's been in charge, so be nice and queue in an orderly manner! I'm sure there will be lots of friendly faces.

We will be bringing plenty of jeans, t-shirts, jackets and jumpers and merino along, including some rare samples that never made it to sale and one-off t-shirt prints from our printshop, as well as the usual collection of stuff with dodgy zips and missing buttons.

The sale will run from Thursday to Sunday and will be held in the Dray Walk Gallery on Brick Lane in London:

The sale will be open from

6pm til 9pm on Thursday 27th Nov
10am til 8pm on Friday 28th Nov
11am til 7pm on Saturday 29th Nov
and 11am til 5pm on Sunday 30th Nov

Hollie, Hayley, Emma and myself are working flat out on customer service to keep everything under control. We'll be here til late tonight, and the guys will be in the warehouse tomorrow packing more orders out.

So, if you're waiting for an order or a reply to your e-mail, please bare with us! We're working on it.

Have a great weekend!

i miss my bike

I haven't taken the bike into work for a while.

I've been driving in.

So I get up in the morning,
sit in my car,
drive to work,
sit at my desk,
sit in my car,
drive home,
sleep.

A couple of weeks full of this much sitting and things get a little depressing.

I do have excuses (although I admit that they're not really all that good...)

But basically, I miss the ride.I miss the wind in my spokes and quiet lunchtimes by the river with my bike for company.

Spending money on petrol is depressing.

And food isn't so satisfying without the thought that you're fuelling your body for something fun and worthwhile.

So I'm going to stop being lazy and getting fat... I'm getting back on the bike.

Cardigan Shop

The Cardigan shop is allllmooost ready to open.

We were hoping to open the doors tomorrow, but unfortunately there's still quite a lot to do and we're not quite ready yet.

The Hi-Fi needs to be fitted, the broadband line for the till needs to be connected, the stock needs to be hung on the nice hangers on the nice rails... and all the other little bits and pieces need to be finished off.

So, we're now hoping to open in the middle of next week!

Bear with us, it will be worth the wait!

(thanks to Paul fenrich for the photo!)

More wooshing.

He just sent in some Woosh fanmail. Thanks, Troy!
