We got this water bottle in the post and inside was this amazing embroidered message from Hazel.

If her clothing design is as good as her ideas and blog, the girl will go far.

Check out her blog here.

Caersws Cup

Here's our friend and team rider Dan Yeomans on the grass podium after coming down the hill 2nd fastest in round 5 of the Caersws Cup downhill race.

He was under 1 second off the top (or middle) spot.

Nice one, Dan.

(by the way, the shirt he's wearing will be available online shortly as part of our winter range)

The 'benefits' of water shortages...

This year we had the driest start to the year since 1976 and it was the North West of England that was supposedly one of the worst effected.
For someone living in Manchester and riding to work in Salford every day the idea of a lack of rain didn't really correlate with the day to day experience - the concept of a drought in Lancashire is perceived to be somewhat of an oxymoron!  But a brief trip out into the Pennines quickly revealed (and I'm sure does still illustrate to some extent) how low the reservoirs were.
The upside to the lack of water in the reservoirs was that the drainage ditches and overflows were dry and ridable. A quick scramble down into this one opened up a very windy but untouched spot the likes of which are usually resigned to magazine pages and countries far afield.
A big thanks to Baito and Sparky for directions and to Northern John for the photos.

Bristol Cycle Summit Talk

  • 19 October 2010

This Thursday the guys and girls from the 'Cycle Summit' team will be coming into the Bristol shop to tell us about their recent trip to the Alps.

The team of nine amateur adventurers and four support members set of from the north of France on a 600-mile cycle to Chamonix. There they spent seven days in the Alps challenging themselves to their limits against the altitude, summiting some of Western Europe's highest peaks...all to raise money for charity.

So, come and join us for a cuppa or a beer from 7pm-9pm. You can pick up a free ticket from the shop, or reserve one by giving us a call on 0117 929 8928 or e-mailing us at [email protected]...but be quick, numbers are limited and we haven't got many tickets to give away!

See you on Thursday!

Early Christmas present

My dad has just given me this gem of a book. It's a 1973 book of 100 bike posters from around the world.
He saw it in the window of an antiques shop and was there first thing the next day to pick it up. It was a case of "I could wait till Christmas but I'm too excited to, so have it now."
I need to get him a "best dad" t shirt as this is now on my list of top possessions.
Can't wait to get them scanned and printed so I can get some in frames...

Cheers then Matt/45

So after two and a bit weeks on the road, shooting for the Spring/Summer catalogue in the rain, I'm now starting to take stock of all the photos, and start the editing process... so far 35 rolls of film have been processed and 140Giggas of digital files downloaded, this is gonna take some time.

In the meantime, here is a selection of polaroids, of some of the people, that make the catalogues look so darn good...

Lydia Savage, at our secret little cove all wrapped up for summer...

Mr Nick Radford, music maker and surfer...

99% of the team that puts the catalogues together, Mr Peter Davies...

Miss Elsie Pinniger, queen of custom wetsuits (and cool cars)...

Miss Camilla Marotta, producer extraordinaire...

Mr Dan Yeomans, rides bikes, paints and looks good in howies...

Ms Lisa, designs the mens clothes and styles them too...

nice people...

nice quiver...

...and a nice little camp out.

(if you like these, I shoot lots of them and share them here, oh I love polaroid)

simply beautifully functional

During those telephone calls that you have to listen more that you chat the bike has started to grow.

rim tape to wheels, tyres on, tubes in, wheels on, rear mech fitted, rear brake calliper on, stem to steerer, bars threaded through and brake/gear levers finger tight.

Ferreted around in the garage this morning for ahead spacers and top cap.

Just need a white saddle and a long front calliper bolt to move to riding it out.

Relentless 24

Hicksy and I just got back from Fort William after taking part in the Relentless 24 hour mountain bike race, as half of a 4 man team with Xander and Tom.

It was our second 24 hour race, and this one was even more fun than the first. Set on the Witches Trail in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the scenery and the weather were amazing and the trails were fast and dry. It was great. I just want to do it all again this weekend.

We didn't get many of our own photos (too busy securing that top 10 finish), but this little video from MTBCut pretty much says it all.
