Ricky Adam beats us to it

Out on my travels i'm always looking for spots to photograph our team riders on. For over a year I've been driving past this place, mentally saving it for a rainy day when we were going to hopefully use it for a catalogue shot. Until i opened Dig Mag an issue ago and was confronted with this little number from Digs legendary lensman and highjumper. now it's game over.

Ricky along with the wethepeople team was on a chance drive down from the North along the west coast of Wales on their way to catch the ferry to the Emerald Isle. With a van full of riders he saw this spot jammed on the anchors and found a willing accomplice in Jason Phelan. This tailwhip was the result. You are a little bugger Adam.

Bristol Drift Collective Exhibition

Today may be a rainy, grey day outside the Bristol shop, but inside, the Drift Collective exhibition is brightening up the place. Full of colourful prints, paintings, photos, short films and of course surfboards. It's enough to inspire you to get the next plane out of Bristol airport to catch some waves somewhere warm and sunny!

Thanks to all those who came to the Fairbridge Wee Do last night. An extremely interesting and insightful look into all the amazing work they get up to with young people in the UK.

Keep a look out for the Fairbridge/ howies box cart race coming up on the 27th November!

This Saturday we have Drift coming to put on an all day exhibition. Pop down to see all sorts of surf related activities and goings on. Exciting stuff!Drift-Poster

Ride III Cover

Issue 3 of The Ride is out and has arrived in our warehouse.

I know more than a couple of you have been looking forward to getting your hands on this, but I have to admit that a little streak of selfishness made me turn a few pages and have a sneaky read before I got it up online. Sorry.

This issue features the usual great looking design work and some thoughtful insights into the multi-faceted world of cycling - as seen from some of those on the front lines. The riders who live and breathe bicycles.

Some of my favourite pieces so far include the cyclocross feature, James Lucas' Bristol Bike Project and Sidi's Founder Dino Signori musing on growing up in the shoe business and starting his company.

You can get yours from us now - Online here, or in any of our shops.

autumn fallin'

"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air" -- Nathaniel Hawthorn

Autumn is a funny one.

One one hand you've got the autumn leaves, the cold crisp mornings, wrapping up warm and log fires. All very lovely and picturesque indeed.

...then you've got the rain.

the rain.

the rain.

So i'm calling on you to send in your favourite autumn snapshots to me here - hollie(at)howies(dot)co(dot)uk, to remind us why autumn (or Fall if you're Kim) is actually quite a nice month afterall. I'll make a slideshow of the nicest ones at the end of next week. Remember to include your name and where the photo was taken so i can credit you accordingly.

So then this time next week we'll all be able to sit back in front of a log fire, crack open a beer (hey it'll be friday afterall) and enjoy...And then hopfully have an urge to get out there and enjoy it properly.

Here's one to get you started. It was taken last weekend in Cwmcou, just outside Cardigan. Nothing spectacular i know...i just like trees.

Ali Dress

We miss Ali alot here at howies.

When we made this dress we named it after her, plus it is totally her style. Check out the colour ways of the Ali Dress.

We took the dress to Sweden to shoot and we all loved it. We rode our bikes in it, jumped in the lake in it, took it to meet Fredick in his garden, drank coffee in, drank beer in it, danced around the camp fire in it. Super nice!

Perfect with our Brook or Suzie jeans.

We only sold it in our shops, but then we thought, hey let everyone have it!

I hope Ali has hers!

Happy Friday Dress.

Rather than keep all our photos hidden here.

We just put up 5 galleries of photos from our Sweden Shoot. They loosely follow the our trip.

There are out takes and behind the scenes shots as well as beautiful pictures that couldn't fit in the catalogues.

So click here to go to our flickr.

Or even better our IHKH page (it’s flickr but presented a lot, lot nicer)

If you want a daily dose of our photographs bookmark our blog; howies look.
