In town this weekend? Show your support for your local skate park and riders and head down to the skate park between 2-6pm this Saturday. BMX and skaters will be demonstrating their flow and style with music, a BBQ and soft drinks on sale.
Entries are £2.50, with all proceeds going towards Genesis Research Trust.
There're a couple of howies tees and other great prizes up for grabs for the winners and runners-up.
Based in Devon, these guys are riding unwanted or disused antique furniture brought back to life as recycled timber longboards. Each board tells it's own story through the hand crafted wood decks. A piece of history in every one.
The guys even collaborate with riders to suit specific tastes, riding styles, timber preferences and source timbers (within reason) on request.
So before you break apart that old cabinet or bin an disused set of drawers, it could be worth a look at their range for some insight as to what they could be.
You may remember the mini ramp from catalogues past. 5ft tall, 16ft wide, tons of fun? Well, sadly the time has come to say goodbye.
It's been skated in a field. It's been skated in a barn. It's now not being skated in our warehouse.
We'll be putting the ramp up for auction on eBay towards the end of August and the winning bid will be donated to Skateistan who are giving kids in Afghanistan and opportunity to escape their daily lives through the outlet of skating.
We've got a few fantastic people on board to help us spread the word who have contributed to a tidy bundle of skating gear.
We were really happy to see so many of you getting involved and posting photos of what you got up to on the weekend.
It's been pretty hard to pick out just 30 winners - but as promised below are the lucky 30 shots which have won a free t-shirt each. They feature fun, bikes, surf, hills, family, food, sun, adventure, relaxation & freedom.
Huge thanks to everyone who took part - We're hoping to do more stuff like this before too long.
Oh, and you can always check out loads of other great entries on our facebook wall here if you're looking for a little inspiration for your next weekend of adventure.
45rpm also goes by the name Matt. You might have met him when he worked at the howies store in Bristol or perhaps you'd have seen him on his fixed gear bike flying down Park street wearing one of our t-shirts. He's instantly recognizable, with a big beard and mesmerizing eyes. He's a howies man through and through.
As well as setting up a bike collective called No Gears Bristol he's a graffiti artist specializing in custom typography and one half of the WHAT collective.
We love his work, especially his recent submission (below) for a competition by Dont Panic. Years of broken and used skate decks have been recycled to create this unique piece of art.
Last Sunday I went to see a screening of Grey Nights, a short skate film with plenty of night skating around London. It coincided with the launch of Grey Magazine Issue 4 (http://greyskatemag.com/), a very good London-based skate magazine.
the Epic Trousers are flying off the shelves at the moment and to help them fly even faster we've set up a little instore demonstration for everyone to try out. the trousers are perfect for those spring showers, when you want to keep dry and look smart, cycle to the pub, walk the dog or even go for a quick jog around the block. they also come with the added bonus of a reflective strip on the right hand side which you can have on display to keep you safe and sound whilst you're out after hours.
