On press

Last week i managed to go see our upcoming Autumn catalogue on press. It was real nice seeing what happens with your work after you've handed it over, all the processes it goes through and the equipment used. Their big press can do 40,000 prints an hour. Crazy fast. So here's some pics...

Above is the machine that feeds the paper through into these printers...

Out of shot is another set of six, where one side of the sheet is printed on before turning over and going through this set. End result being this...

Our Autumn 2009 catalogue cover.

To see the rest you'll have to wait til September.

It's sad news i'm afraid for those that know the legend of Kessler. Bad bad bad. Thanks go to colin for sending me the link.

It's all over the  net already, if you've not seen it you might want to plug your best speakers in for this. I cant embed the clip but click here to go to the Berrics site where it's hosted.

This was also another good find.

My mate Sam has 2 record release shows coming up to promote his new 'Close to Home' Lp, there's one up north and one down south so if you're lucky enough to live near Leeds or London here's the details...

13th August, Nation of Shopkeepers, 27-37 Cambridge Street, Leeds, 8:00pm, Free Entry (<you can't argue with that!)

14th August, The Green Note, 106 Parkway, Camden, London, 8:00pm, £6 (tickets available from wegottickets there's only 15 left so be quick)

I know he would much appreciate the support and if you can make it to either one you'll get to witness something pretty special...

Mile End skate park

Mile End has an awesome new skate park; east London has always been a bit lacking.  It was built by the guys at Gravity, and is a smooth all cement/marble surface.  Tipped to have something for everyone.

mile end skate park

Kingpin productions released "Hold Tight Mile End" at the beginning of this Summer, to show off what the park has in store.  It's beautifully shot, and has some amazingly talented UK riders (Shaun Witherup, Will Harmon, Neil Smith, John Tanner, Scott Howes, Sam Taylor...to name but a few)

As I said amazing cinematography, with a great soundtrack...oh and the riding is sick!

Here's why

In the USA (San Fran to be exact) the last week saw some of the worlds finest skaters throw their fleshy spaceships down some huge ledges. Then the girls had a go at the carcass toss. i cant embed the clip so you'll have to click to view it on Thrashers site. The pic came from the Black Box Distro website, care of the Zero crew, so back to business......................................................................... Here's one for the ladies.

Guys skating is pretty incredible but even more incredible has been the story that went beyond  his skating. Troubled by addiction and some serious bouts of lack of confidence he pulled his sinking ship out of a nosedive into the depths and delivered this part a little while back. I've been waiting a couple of months to watch all of the vbs parts i've put on here as i've been mad busy doing other stuff. This morning i finally got chance to sit down for a few hours and get in to it. Here's the comeback kid, hold those tears back now, it's got a happy ending but is by no means the end on the story.

Here are the other 9 parts. you might want to sit down for this, it's a ride.

the wallenberg contest starts at 7pm tonight (11am PST).

one huge crowd, four big steps, six feet high and eighteen feet long.

and a live webcast at slap magazine.
