It's the little things

So things have been a little slow for me this year in regards to fitness, usually I have rowing to focus on in May but not this year, I've decided to do what I want, when I want, whether it's biking, surfing, swimming or running. This is a lot different to having a schedule, and I like it, it's all the little things.

I have been out on my bike almost every weekend since the Christmas holidays for a "bike ride", I'm not training or trying to loose weight or aiming to get mega fit, I just want to go out, feel the air in my lungs, the wind rushing past me as I go down hill, admire the veiw, spend time with my friends, and feel great afterwards.

I like to go to some of my favorite spots near where I live, up past the farm all the way to the top, checkout the view of Goodwick and Fishguard harbour all the way up to Cardigan, carry on down the hill to the other side overlooking the lighthouse and  a massive expanse of sea, along to a famous comedians house. Then take a sneaky right turn to an amazing lookout point to more sea, a different angle this time looking down to St Davids head, and Ramsey Island and finally off to a little village near the woolen mill and back to our house for tea, cake and curling up in front of the fire.

We have been out with sheet ice on the roads (fun on a road bike) northerly winds, the usual grey drizzle and really warm sunshine, now shoots are popping up everywhere and there a new-born lambs hoping around, it's nice to notice the changes from the bike instead of the car, and the evenings are getting lighter so soon there will be evening rides too.

I have also been working on the bike, well, testing kit out thinking what's good, what's bad, what could be better, what ingenius piece of kit doesn't exist yet, and recently have had some of my comfortable rides ever (shh all in development I'm afraid) but it makes such a difference to be comfy.

So all these things are little, I'm not training for anything I'm just going out for a "bike ride".

Life is complicated, sport is simple

Spring ..now online

We like spring. It’s the season of rejuvenation, regeneration,
renewal, revival and other things beginning with ‘re’. It’s a time of
growth, when we begin to see the first buds from seeds planted
long ago.

But, ask any farmer and he’ll tell you that all reward must come
from a whole heap of hard work. So we’ve had a busy old time here.
That means lots of hours in the office seat and not enough on the
bike seat, to be honest.

Now spring is here, it’s time to pause and enjoy the view again.
And from this beautiful little corner of West Wales there’s a lot to see.
Everything is turning green again and there are a few more hours
in the day to make the most of it.

So if you call and we don’t pick up, don’t worry. It just means we are
out there getting some time in the saddle. Because at howies we know
that the best seat in the house isn’t always in the house.

also now in stock are the new and extremely good looking 'the ride' journal and 'rouleur' magazine, we only have limited numbers of each so if you plan on getting one don't hang about.

Salvage Selvedge

during last weeks stock take we stumbled across one or two things that we thought had completely sold out, gone forever, vanished into thin air.

one of these items is a pair of the highly sought after Stoker Selvedge Indigo in the ever popular size of 32 regular.

if you fancy getting your grubby mits on this last pair at the sale price of £110 then don't hesitate to give us a call on 0207 287 2345.

My new home is a nice apartment in a Swiss ski resort called Engelberg, an old creaky swiss chalet with front door step covered in ice and windows that let the howling wind through.

Apart from working we have had a few lovely days of powder snow and a little hiking in some perfect powder.

I'll be writing a monthly blog to keep you updated with some sweet photos and tasty video.

Here are a couple of photos of me and Ralph making our way to a nice fresh couloir and catching some beautiful scenery along the way.

Checked shirt analysis

A short while back, Dan C and Dan B from Applied Web Analytics came down to Cardigan Bay to talk web stats.

Here we see myself, Nathan and Ade getting our heads around some dimensions and metrics during AWA's flash card game.

You don't need to wear a checked shirt to understand the internet, but we find that it helps.

Oops – £80 for a bit longer

Our site went wrong yesterday evening.

A server froze and the checkout stopped working for a few hours.

No one's fault, just one of those things.

It kind of messed up the £80 for 80 hours offer, which was due to end at 8pm.

We know a lot of you tried to place orders that didn't go through... so we've decided to extend the offer for a bit, until 8pm tomorrow evening (Wednesday the 8th December)

Until then, you can get the some of our best winter warmers for just £80, and if you use
the code SN87 at the checkout, we'll give you free postage and make sure your order is dispatched on a 24 hour special delivery.

Or if you'd rather place your order over the phone,
please call Emma, Naomi and James on 01239 614 122

And remember, this offer is also running in our shops.
