taking back the streets

IMG_7225Regents Street is closed off to cars today for a festival.  They've got a few music stages, food stalls (including a sweet stall!), a ferris wheel...and lots more besides.

Worth checking out on a lazy Sunday.  A bit of London community in the West End!   And you can always swing by the shop and say hi to us :)

My friend Jessie Ford did the Geeks Corner mural for us in store a few months back.  Yesterday Eliza Williams wrote about it on the Creative Review Blog which is awesome!

ade's latest 008

It features along side a music video that her friend George Wu directed.  Thought I'd share it with you...made me smile :)

Here Comes Trouble by Ill Ease

This weekend I went down to Brighton to visit my mates.  Saturday night they said we're all going to a gig at the Hope, to watch a band one of their friend is in.  My expectations were low...as they usually would be in that situation.

When we got there the tickets were sold out.  Thanks to my friend Jake hand his relentlessness we all managed to get into the stuffy little venue.  Lack of air conditioning was waining on everyones patience.

The band started up and I was immediately blown away!  The whole audience was going crazy.  The best way to describe their music would be cinematic...haunting...electronica...?!  If you're into acts on Anticon, this could well be up your street.  What trully got me was they had 2 drummers!  They worked off each other so well.  I've never seen anything like it.

If you ever get the opportunity to see Restlesslist live, I would highly recommend it.

Thanks guys :)

Billy Bragg and Nick Hand on the slowcoast

Every man has his heroes, ever since i've known Nick we do most of our chat about the bands we love and hate, frame builders and at some time during the evening Billy Braggs name will crop up on Nicks lips and he'll slide away from our conversation silently and go quiet as i see Billy's lyrics floating round his shaven little head and a dreamy look fall over his aging chops like a warm wind kissing a cold face. So yesterday when i checked Nick's position on the map and saw he was headed to Lyme Regis i thought i'd drop him a line and tell him where Billy lives and also warn him of Abbotsbury Hill and the nasty climb out of Lyme. This morning i got a lovely text from Nick telling me he's just posted a soundslide of Billy and of course mentioning those climbs. Good old Nick, here's the clip of the Bragg.
