the howies store, cardigan
Pete and Aron have been up to the shop and fitted the Cardigan shop Christmas window in time for the weekend.
And, because it's the last weekend before Christmas, the shop will also be open on Sunday 11-4(ish).
There's lots of bargain knitwear as well as some great sample stuff to be found.
The streets will be shining brightly in Cardigan tomorrow night as we celebrate turning on the Christmas lights.
The shop is open late for the hustle and bustle, and between 5pm and 8pm we'll be doing 20% off everything in store.
We've got lots of great pieces in, including a few bits 'n' bobs that are no longer on the website.
Pop down and say hello.
We're gearing up for a special shopping night tonight here in our Carnaby Street shop.
A whole bunch of stores have joined up with Grazia magazine to offer 20% off to customers, between 5pm and 9pm tonight. If you missed out last year, the night went down a storm.
We've got in an extra load of stuff from HQ for the rush and have been unpacking the boxes all morning.
Before you head on down, you have to register for your free ticket to claim your in-store discount.
No ticket, no discount, sorry. Them’s the rules.
So if you’re in the area, drop in and see us.(and don’t forget that ticket!)
Looks like it will be busy in town this weekend as Cardigan prepares for the River & Food Festival tomorrow. The festival will be held at Cardigan's Quay Street car park situated on the River. The organisers are expecting around 8,000 people to drop by and indulge in the 70 food, drink and crafts on show.
Expect some well known chefs doing some cookery demos, there'll be live music, river events, children’s activities and street entertainment.
Oh - and across the bridge from the River and Food Festival, Cardigan shop is having a sample sale.
The warehouse team have been going through boxes and clearing out rails to put together some great stuff for you. Stuff we've used to measure. Stuff there's only 1 or 2 of. Stuff that never got made.
Limited edition stuff, if you like.
The kind of stuff that tends to go fast.
The Street Race is starting to really take shape. Posters are back from the printers and street closures are approved for the race circuit.
So yesterday, we all combed our hair to present a £2000 cheque to Velo Teifi, our way of getting involved to kickstart the race.
It's guaranteed to be an action-packed event acting as the final in the Welsh National Criterium Championships. The route is going to be fast, with the best riders in Wales coming to Cardigan to race at speeds of up to 40mph through the town centre.
The streets may be closed, but the race is very much open. howies will be racing for the coveted "Fastest Trader in the West" title and if you're interested in breaking the speed limit through town, you'd better get your entry form to get involved.
The day's not just for racers. If you can help marshal, set up or pack up, please get in touch with event organisers Velo Teifi.
There are also plenty of great spots along the route to watch and cheer riders along.

In case you're wondering what that all looks like, Ruben's just popped out and filmed a quick lap:
Another Thursday, another bank holiday opening times message - I could get used to these 3 day weeks!
so here we go:
- howies HQ will be closed tomorrow & Monday, reopening at 9am Tuesday morning to answer your emails and take your calls
- Carnaby street will be open all weekend, open normal hours Saturday/Sunday and then shorter hours tomorrow & Monday (11-5pm) - if you're in London and don't happen to have an invite to a certain wedding then pop in!
- Cardigan shop will be open as usual on Saturday, closed Sunday... and then 11-4pm tomorrow & on Monday.
....So - what will you be doing over the weekend? and how about you Londoners, will you be caught up in royal wedding fever tomorrow and joining the billions watching, or will you become a Silence Seeker & head for the nearest escape route away from the city?
Me? I'll be off on the hunt to find a bike, that white 1988 Raleigh caprice is out there somewhere I'm sure!
Have a good one whatever you get up to.... and don't forget to send us a photo! (see Ruben's photo comp blog here)
What a sunny week!
As the Beatles once said - "Here comes the sun....Little darling, it's been a long, cold lonely winter....it feels like years since it's been here"
howies HQ will be out the office tomorrow and on Monday as we'll be getting out and embracing the beautiful British bank holiday weather.
It should be a good one - camping trips, bike rides and dips in the sea are all being planned, Em has her new flipflops on ready for the beach and James has even got his white pasty legs out on show.
We'll be back on Tuesday morning though, so just drop us an email to [email protected] and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
The Carnaby street store will be open over the bank holiday weekend though, Mark and the guys will be there 11-5pm tomorrow, normal hours saturday, and then 11-5pm again for sunday & monday.
If you're planning a trip to london then pop in and say hello (preferably with something chocolaty or cake-shaped) ...or give them a call on 0207 287 2345 to see if they can help at all.
Or, if you're lucky enough to be staying in our 'hood this weekend then the Cardigan shop will be open tomorrow (11-4pm), closed sunday, and then open 11-4pm on Monday. You can give them a call on 01239 623745.
If you are around Pembrokeshire then i recommend a trip to Whitesands beach (near St.Davids) - the photo above is a quick snapshot i took last bank holiday (i think) ....but enjoy yourselves whatever you get up to.
Oh, and Ps don't forget that we've got 20% off tops, polos & jumpers until tuesday too!
The shop down by the river here in Cardigan is looking good right now.
We have a really great range of winter gear, including plenty of warm layers which are perfect for the Arctic conditions currently gripping the UK.
We're getting ready to close for Christmas, but we will be back on Monday next week and we'll be in Big Winter Sale mode, with many great bargains to be had.
As usual, the earliest birds will be sure to catch the juiciest worms so get down here if you have your eye on something.
