A-to-B. Via C.

Routine can be a good thing, but I recently realised I've been stuck in the grind of A-to-B: Ride to work. Work. Ride home.

The routine has been broken a little in preparation for racing in Italy. So A-to-B has had a little B-to-B loop added at lunch, but last night reminded me it's a lot more fun when A-to-B goes via C. Especially when you don't know where C might be.

I live about 1 mile from work and it took nearly 2 hours to get home via a 30 mile detour on roads I've never seen, over hills I've never climbed and getting lost at a crossroads I couldn't get back to with a map, let alone without one.

Finding myself a little lost, faced with uphill one way and downhill the other, the temptation was to take the easy way out and roll down. But with the setting sun as my only bearing, onward and upward west was the order of the evening and eventually, all would be alright. At the summit, the Preseli's came into view in the distance with familiar-looking fields lining the river valley. It was clear I was heading back to B.

Today is the longest day. 16h 38m 20s of daylight (give or take). That's plenty of time to take the long way home.

Ever wondered where A-to-B might take you if you go via C?

Spring 2010 and the 3 elves

Whilst everyone is ranting on about xmas, in the Creative department Pete, Nick and myself are cracking on with the Spring 2010 catalogue. Not long ago a few of us visited Patagonia to Cardigan's twin town Trevelin, got some brilliant pictures... add to that some amazing photos from the Cardigan shoot and we have a new howies catalogue on our hands. We've even got the masterful Jon Matthews working with us in the words department. Watch this space...

After work last night Toby, Ruben and I went for a Tour De Cardigan.  30km of windy roads, a couple of showers and a great sunset sky.  There were no wall ride accidents this time (nice one Ruben), but  a slight lack of lights (nice one Ruben).

And to finish, a stop at the legend that is Bowens chippie.  Perfect.

NEW T-shirt of the Week

This weeks T-shirt of the Week is 'Aberteifi'.

This one is a tribute to a very special place (and absolutely nothing
to do with a certain American clothing brand)...

Aberteifi is the Welsh name for howies' hometown of Cardigan.
Coming from the words 'Aber', meaning mouth of the river
and 'Teifi', the name of the river running through Cardigan.

If you've been here you'll know why it deserves a t-shirt.
If not, when are you coming to visit?

Available on night for men and electric blue for women.

lots of thisbacked up

loud and proud

stable old legsout of my hands

the last saturday in april is barley saturday in cardigan.

the local community bring out their stallions and vintage tractors to show for prizes and then they parade them up the high street.

it's a very proud day, the stallions are testosterone charged and once the judging is over they run the horses up a packed high street twice followed by the tractors.

i have seen stallions galloping on the spot on the road with sparks flying from their shoes.

it is a day worth coming to cardgan to see it in it's full glory.

This weeks T-shirt of the Week is ‘Boredom’.

YouTube is not always the answer
Twitter is not always the answer
Facebook is not always the answer
Ebay is not always the answer
and you can Google all you want
but can’t find yourself there

Kill your boredom, head for the hills.

(available in white or white)

Christmas time table

Hey guys, just letting you know our Cardigan shop opening times over christmas:

We're open as usual Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm up until christmas eve, when we'll be closing early, so don't leave it too late! Then after christmas we'll be open on the 27th up til the 31st. We'll be closed new year's day then open as usual from the 2nd on.

Now the formalities are over, I'd like to point your attention to possibly the best coat in the world!

The BFJ- if you're feeling the cold this year, get yourself one of these. Not only does it keep you really warm, but unlike some jackets of it's kind, you can actually move your arms! Loads of us at howies have got them, I've hardly taken mine off!

Check out the men's here and the women's here
