The Dyfi Jacket - our lightweight, windproof active shell for cycling or running.

Complicated isn’t clever.
Complicated is just trickery... Smoke and mirrors to fool your eyes.
Bells and whistles to distract you.
Good design isn't about adding more.
Good design is about simplicity.
Every feature has a reason for being.
If it doesn’t need to be there, take it off.

This is our new Dyfi Jacket. It's a lightweight, windproof active shell for cycling or running.
With recycled polyester ripstop body and breathable, four-way stretch arm panels.
Reflective accents on the cuffs and tail keep you visible when it gets dark and a fleece
lined collar keeps out draughts. It's adjustable at the waist and has a zipped chest pocket
that the jacket packs away into.

And it's £39.

Like we always say, simple works.

Our New Outback Jacket

Schoeller 3XDRY water-resistant soft-shell with Merino wool bonded fleece inside - it keeps you dry from the outside, dry from the inside and it dries in a flash.

There's no such thing as bad weather. Just bad clothing.

Most of the weather we get in the UK is neither onething or the other. Some days it's bright and sunny, but freezing cold. Others, lovely and warm but chucking it down with rain. You can’t win.

The Outback jacket is our answer to thesedays. We've set out to design somethingthat feels and performs like a Merino wool base layer, but at the same time is wind and water-resistant.

So we've taken the same soft, itch free, anti-microbial Merino wool we use in our base layers and bonded it with a Schoeller 3XDRY softshell outer fabric. The Merino fleece wicks moisture away from your body, transporting it to the outer shell, which in turn lets it evaporate without letting any moisture in.

The result is a performance weatherproof jacket that keeps you dry from the outside, dry from the inside and dries in a flash.

Perfect for sport, the outdoors and those days when the weather just can't make up it's mind.

We've been putting the Outback through it's paces too. It's fast wicking Merino wool inner sends moisture to the 3XDRY outer really fast and in early spring downpours has kept the rain at bay on rides home.

The jacket is super-stretchy too with contoured panels making movement easier and with two zipped map-sized hand pockets a zip chest pocket with a headphone port, this jacket is perfect for sport, the outdoors and those days when the weather can't make up it's mind. Which around here is most days.

The thing with softshell...

The thing about a soft shell is that it replaces a few layers giving you a single technical layer that can be worn almost all of the time over a base layer.

We made our first soft shell in 2006 and we still see them at races and hacking round cities.

To be a true soft shell it should shed water but not be waterproof. This makes it very breathable and quick drying. It should also block out the wind and have insulation to keep you warm. And by having some stretch in the fabric it is easy to wear both in and out of activity and is very hard wearing.

The thing about a soft shell is that it replaces a few layers giving you a single technical layer that can be worn almost all of the time over a base layer.

In 2010 we introduced the barrier hoody, which was a sell out for winter.

This year we have introduced the Barrier Light for men and women with a few tweaks.

- A reduction in the weight of the jacket by using a loop back liner that also increased the warmth.
- Ribbed cuffs and waistband to stop the wind blowing in.
- Inner pocket and headphone loop.
- A second colour. Not everyone suits khaki.

It’s great for on and off the bike. To put on over your dirty kit post sport when cooling down. From house to bus to train to office, in and out of doors. Pre and post yoga and gym.

This means we should see them at races and hacking round cities in the next 6 years.

Weathermen say we're in for a cold snap. So it's a good thing our Winter jackets are on the way this November.

We've updated our classic BFJ down jacket and added an all-new midweight Whistler insulated jacket in there too. They are by far the best jackets we've made yet.

So keep a keen eye on our blogtwitter and facebook for more information on arrival dates. They'll be worth the wait, honest.

Don't throw that jacket away!

It's that time of year again, in sets the cold and rain.  Looking out your old waterproof jacket?  Maybe it's working great, waterproof and breatable.  Or maybe it's lost its lustre?

When your jacket is dirty this causes the fabric to 'wet out' and loose its breatability.  If you wash your jacket in a standard washing detergent it will not help matters either, as it leaves residue behind.  You could use a non-detergent based tech wash.  This will not compromise the breathability or waterproofing of your jacket.  However over time your jacket will loose its durable water repellency, which is where re-proofing comes into play.

 gangers

We think you should get the best out of your clothes so... we are now selling Grangers 30° 2 in 1 Cleaner and Waterproofer, at the Carnaby Street store and Bristol store.  This product has energy saving in mind, as you only need to use one wash cycle.    It is bluesign certified; and is the only aftercare company to have this accreditation.  Bluesign is the world's only independant benchmark that guarantees products are free  from harmful substances, and as such are safe for humans and the environment.  We also have Grangers XT proofer spray available.  Many conventional re-proofers rely on heat being applied to activate it.  This means using your tumble drier or and iron.  We don't want you to use this energy unnecessarily.  The XT proofer restores the perforormance of your jacket, with simply airdrying it after you have sprayed it.

I know this reads a bit like an infomercial...but hopefully we have imparted some knowledge on aftercare for you.

Rain, Rain, Rain..

it's been pouring with rain all day.

it was raining when we came in this morning, it was raining when we went for lunch, and it looks like it will be raining when we go home.

it's not all bad news, though.

as team rider Dan knows, if you have the right jacket on, even the worst weather can be fun.

Our slate river jackets are avaliable for men and women.

Go on rain, do your worst.

Woosh!

this is our woosh jacket.

It's been around for a while now but since the BFJ came out, I feel that it has been a little bit overlooked in the jacket department.

It's kind of at the other end of the scale from the BFJ.

Very light and very small. You can pack it in your bag and forget it's there.

But when you get off the train and realise it's a bloody cold day and the wind is stripping all your warmth away, you'll be very glad you have the woosh with you.

Because even though it's small, and light, it's very windproof and surprisingly warm. It stops the windchill and creates a protective shell around your jumper or jacket, helping to keep the warm in and the cold out.

It's also a fantastic jacket to wear for biking, fell running or any other activity that gets you outside in the wind and the cold.

Me and ade love ours. And we think it deserves just as much attention as the BFJ.

This jacket really is the business.

Warm, comfy, squishy (a very important factor in my choosing of Winter jacket).

And as we plunge deeper into Wintery days, the more we sell - so if you're dithering whether to or not, dither no longer! Do it. Be decisive. Act quickly, they're selling like hot welsh cakes on a snowy day!
