Sale Merino on Brick Lane

  • Posted by ruben
  • 21 May 2010

We love our merino baselayers. They're our layer of choice when we get out and about on our bikes, boats, boards or when we go running.

They're also great to wear on their own, under shirts and for loads of non-sporty situations as well.

So we're happy to report that we found a load of merino stock that we'd forgotten about... and promptly sent it down to Ade on Brick lane for the sample sale.

If you can, drop by and check it out - it looks like they'll have some great stuff down there this weekend. More details, a map and opening hours here.

It's that time again. Barny is down and the sample sale team is gearing up for their latest trip to Brick Lane's Old Truman Brewery this weekend.

This time we're going to be right next to 14 Bikes Co. and there will be some other cool brands coming along to run sample sales of their own as well, so it's going to be a good event.

We will have a great selection of one off samples, plenty of bargains and a few items that need a little love with a button or a stitch.

Click here for a map. The nearest tube station is Liverpool St. and if you come on a bike you're welcome to bring it in.

Our opening times will be:

20th Thursday 4pm – 9pm
21st Friday 11am – 8pm
22nd Saturday 11am – 6pm
23rd Sunday 11am – 5pm

See you there.

P.S. Bring your own bag, we don’t have any. Sorry.

manchester ride out

We went out last night to Didsbury to Greens restaurant. Barney and me rode out on the main highway.

Super flat and super fast drafting buses and swerving the death pot holes. We met Sinead from howies Carnaby for good food and conversation.

We rode back into town up the Oxford road which gave us some heavy traffic to zag through and then straight into the city centre that was in the full throws of a Saturday night.

Nearly got broadsided by a police van doing a u-turn.

I don't get to ride city much so I was a buzzing when we got back to the hotel.

Would love to spend a day hacking round this city,

We nearly missed the delivery of new stuff from Cardigan cause the driver came super early and we were out running.

Luckily he left his number and then swung by again.

We have just unpacked and hung 4 boxes of men's merino, tee shirts, polo's, shirts and jumpers.

After we finished last night we went out for a 2 hour ride round the centre and then out into the burbs to find the 8th day. We rode canals, underpasses, cobbled streets, tram lines, car parks, waste ground, the northern quarter and then cold and wet back to the hotel. Bikes into the bath and out for food to what was meant to be Manchester's greatest vegan restaurant, but on arrival the vast array of meat on the menu was a flag to Barney's mistake.

This morning, Sally who I ran with last year took me out for a 40 minute run looping round the centre. Despite the rain it was really warm.

Tonight we have a 30 minute ride out to the suburbs to eat, and Barney who only bought one pair of shoes is hoping for dry weather to return.

We leave for home at 4pm tomorrow. Bring a bag.

Sample Sale

We are coming to Manchester  this week for what I think will be our most Northerly Sample Sale this year. (Time and staff levels are the only reason)

Last year we came to the Triangle shopping centre and it worked so well that we are using a larger space.

The address is The Triangle shopping Centre, Exchange Square, Manchester. M4 3TR and opening times;

Thursday 18th 4pm to 8pm.

Friday 19th 10am to 6pm

Saturday 20th 10am to 6pm

Sunday 21st 11am to 4pm

This time we are upstairs in Unit 28. Our friends at Thoughtful are helping out and have made a MASSIVE howies banner, so look up when you come in and you should see us.

Mel and Lisa our clothing designers went through all their samples 3 weeks ago and have pulled out some unseen gems.

Naomi and Clare have spent 10 days in our cold back warehouse sorting and hanging and boxing.

Sinead is up from our London store (she's a local) and Barney from our Bristol store and little ol' me from Cardigan to work the 4 days and do some running, ride the fixeds round town and judging by how busy the hotels are, Saturday night should be fun.

Thursdays at every sample sale are always the busiest, and where you get the pick of the crop, but be prepared to hustle and bustle for your bargain.

Oh and as ever, bring a good bag as we will not have any.

And if your up for a 6 mile urban run, I am.

Bristol Sample Sale

Good news for you lovely Bristolians, we are coming to hold one of our legendary sample sales later this week.

Naomi is out in the back warehouse right now getting the clothes sorted out and packed up.

Once that's done and we fix a small windscreen wiper problem, Simon will be driving the big black van down to the Bristol shop on Thursday.

There will be the usual collection of great end of line items along with a few amazing one-off samples (some in odd colours) that we never put into production, some otherwise brilliant stuff with dodgy buttons and plenty of other t-shirts and things at bargain prices.

Definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

The sale will be held upstairs in the shop - here's the address and opening times -

62 Queens Road
(map here)

Opening times:

Thursday  18th - 4pm til 8pm
Friday 19th - 9.30am - 6pm
Saturday 20th - 9.30am - 6pm
Sunday 21st - 11am - 5 pm

Bring a bag, 'cause as usual, we wont have any.

Hope to see you there.

Ade just called with another update from Brick Lane.

The sun is shining, the clothes are up on the rails and the doors are open.

The sample sale is on!

Go check it out, they'll be there for 4 days

Thursday 20th 4pm to 8.30pm
Friday 21st 11am to 8pm
Saturday 22nd 11am to 7pm
Sunday 23rd 11am to 4pm

(we made a mistake in the previous opening times. where we said it would be opening at 11pm, we meant 11am. oops!)

They have plenty of room to put your bike where it wont get stolen (the howies crew will fight off bike thieves with big sticks)

But there are no bags, so please, please bring your own if you're planning to carry anything away with you!

They are there till Thursday then off to Glasgow and most likely not back for at least a year.
