Art Think 2007 - Humble Pie

Chomp. Chomp. Chomp. Swallow.

Well, sometimes you make the wrong call.

And when that happens, you just have to put your hand up and say ‘hey, I made a mistake’.

So to all the students who entered the Art-think comp last time round: Sorry. Quite rightly, I got some stick over it. You see, I gave the award to a great â€¨photo, but it was taken by a professional photographer. This went against the spirit â€¨of the competition which was to promote new talent. At the time I didn’t feel that the standard of entrants was good enough to give an award.

Instead, I gave the award to someone who had done a piece of work that I had pinned up on the wall in the office just because I loved it, and it had made me think. I didn’t know who had taken the shot. (It took us a while to find out.)

So to try and make amends this time round, we are going split the Art-think comp into two sections: one for students, one for pros.

Let’s see if that works better.
