We are howies, a small active clothing company based in Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales.

We make men’s and women’s clothing for the sports we love – biking, running and the outdoors, as well as for our day to day lives.

We believe in a thing called quality. We believe that making a product which lasts longer is better for the environment. And we believe in making our stuff in a low impact way. So all of our t-shirts, sweatshirts and jeans are made from organic cotton and no silly stuff. After all, that just seems like common sense to us.

By the way, we also believe that tea should be made in a pot. But that’s just our way...

T-shirts are the the first product that howies ever made. Since then, we've done hundreds of designs and they have continued to be close to our hearts. They are a great canvas for ideas, for how we think and what we believe.

And one thing you can be sure of when you buy one of our printed organic cotton t-shirts is that it was screenprinted by hand in our own little printshop, here in Cardigan.

Using an old-fashioned carousel, silk mesh screens and a bit of elbow grease, Tidy Mike and Tom print each and everyone of them with the same level of skill, craftsmanship and respect for the end product as they deserve.

We are very proud of that.

As well as printing howies designs, our printshop also offers it's services to the outside world. Meaning, if you've got a club, group, charity or company, we can work with you to print a batch of your very own design (or one we think up for you) on howies organic cotton t-shirts.

Our Blog

  • Our Brainfood blog is the place where we share the latest news and goings on in the world of howies.

    Whether it’s Ade's cycle commute to work, events we're getting involved in, or tales of one of our Micro Adventures, you can be sure to find it posted here, for all to see and comment on.

    We'll also post news and stories about new products and designs that are in the pipeline.

  • So it's a good place to revisit regularly or bookmark, if you like that sort of thing. You can even put in your RSS feed to keep check on what's happening daily, hourly or by the minute (stalker).

    There's a nifty filter system now too, which should make it much easier for you to find blogs on your preferred subjects.

  • The Think section is where you can read the entire library of stories which have appeared in our catalogues.

    Everything from environment to sport, from art to books, film and music is covered. Stories that will inspire, stories which spark debate.

    Some will make you laugh, some will make you angry. But one thing is for sure, they will all make you think about this crazy world we live in.

  • You'll see rants from our favourite writers, accompanied by some beautiful art from our favourite artists and illustrators.

    You never know, you might find out something you didn't know before.

Social

  • Being a bunch of geeks, we love the social networks. Where else can you see such an incredible wealth of information and share it so quickly and easily? Even if the information is a video of a dog on a skateboard.

    We've got a Facebook, which is all about giving you unique content and getting your opinions and input. We run competitions on there, we show you behind the scenes at howies and post videos, photos and stuff that we think you might like.

  • We've also got a Twitter that you can follow, if you're on there. It's a place where we post news about goings on at howies, as well as product information and occasional 'first dibs' news on howies discount events. Our Twitter name is @howies.

    On top of those, we've also got a Tumblr and our own Vimeo page. Like we said, we are a bunch of geeks.

  • Sign up to our newsletter and you’ll receive all the latest stories, product news, competitions and sales offers.

    You'll get a weekly email, featuring in-depth information and stories about specific products, as well as new season range previews before everyone else. You'll also get exclusive sale offers and be the first to hear about howies discount events.

Delivery

  • UK Orders over £85 are postage free.

    Standard delivery £4.00
    If your item is in stock, we will do our best to despatch your order the day you place it. In busy times it may take us a little bit longer. Your order will be sent on a recorded delivery. This service should take between 2-5 working days and a signature will be required when you receive your parcel.

  • If you know you are usually out when the postman calls, you can ask us to send your parcel to a different address when you place your order.

    Next day delivery £6.50
    Available for orders placed before 1pm. Orders placed Monday – Thursday will be delivered the next day.

  • Orders placed on Friday will be delivered the following Monday.

    Not applicable for Highlands, Islands and outlying areas, where delivery will be 2 – 3 working days.

  • Overseas orders
    (credit card only)

    (Up to 14 working days)
    Europe - £6.00 (free over £85)
    Rest of World - £12.00 (free over £125)

  • Please note that for overseas orders we are only able to deliver to your billing address.

    All the prices on our website and catalogue are in pounds sterling and are inclusive of VAT.

    If your order is being delivered to a country within the European Union then your bill will include VAT.

    If your order is being delivered outside the European Union then

  • you will not be charged VAT, but you will need to pay your country's customs fees and import duties when you receive your package.

Returns

  • How to return or
    exchange an item

    ou do not have to pay to return an item, there is a freepost returns address sticker in with your order (except items bought in sales or discount promtions). Please use this sticker to return your parcel. 

Don’t forget to fill in the reverse side of the invoice to tell us why you are returning your goods, so

  • we can quickly put things right. And please ensure that you use the proof of posting card (also enclosed with your order) at the Post Office when you send your goods back. This is your insurance if it gets lost or damaged in the post.
 You have up to 3 months to decide whether or not to keep your item(s). Items bought online cannot be returned to any of our shops...

  • Please note: Sale items work slightly differently. You can still return your item for any reason, of course, but you must post it back to us within 7 working days (14 working days for international customers). There are no free returns on sale items or international orders.
