  • Say hello to Mr. Al Packer.

Al Packer is the rather exotic chap who is responsible for a lot of the current knitwear we have in stock.

He’s from The Andes mountain ranges in Peru originally and resembles a small Llama with bad teeth and a funny ginger afro (sorry Al).

Known as the ‘Gold of the Andes’, his super soft wool is amazingly warm, with tiny microscopic air pockets that provide excellent thermal insulation for him in all extremes of weather.

Al’s wool is also known for having a higher tensile strength than regular sheep’s wool, making it especially wear-resistant.

Time to become best buddies, we think.

  • Steve Worland was a true original, a writer and a pioneer in the UK MTB scene who sadly passed away from a heart attack while running fast in Ashton Court, Bristol earlier this year.

He was someone who spent countless hours in the woods either testing bikes and equipment, going out for a run, riding his bike for fun or simply enjoying the quiet and peaceful environment.

howies have collaborated with the Steve Worland Memorial Fund and we are printing this limited edition memorial tee.

£5 from the sale of every Remember Steve T-shirt – available until 31st August – will be donated to help pay for a memorial bench and defibrillator at Ashton Court in Bristol.

Steve loved the countless trails that run through his local woodlands and was an important contributor to the sheer endless network of little tracks running through Leigh Woods, Ashton Court and all the pockets of woodland Bristol has to offer.

The bench will be open to all and will be carved in tribute to Steve.

  • A few new tees from the howies Printshop for the nice weather.

    9:27 AM - 25 Jul
  • We’ve just printed some new t-shirts for the big bicycle race through France that starts next week.

Due to the amount of lawyers Le Tour have, we thought we probably shouldn’t refer to these as ‘Tour’ tees, or mention the term ‘Tour De France’ anywhere on them.Besides, ‘French Bike Race’ is way more catchy anyway.

    9:06 AM - 26 Jun
  • This new tee is all about herd mentality.

We reckon they're all listening to Baa-bra Streisand...

With assistance from of a loyal band of helpers, some great sponsors, and friendly landowners, the Dyfi Enduro has grown to be one of the most popular MTB events in the UK, with entries selling out faster and faster each year.

This year marked the 13th Enduro – riding on the great network of trails that crisscross the huge Dyfi forest, North of Machynlleth in Mid Wales.

If you rode the Dyfi Enduro last bank holiday we hope you enjoyed it. (See if you can spot yourself.)

  • AS THE CROW FLIES
    https://vimeo.com/92639728

Ade from howies and Dom from Wold met up in mid-Wales for a ride to the coast by howies HQ.
They rode two hand made cyclocross bikes, built to take on the mountain terrain, boggy tracks, winding roads and rocky paths in as straight a line as possible.
    53 miles,
    Mountains to sea,
    As the crow flies.
Filmed & Edited by Ricky Adam

(PS. Dom is now taking orders for a limited edition framset of the the bikes we rode: http://www.howies.co.uk/howies-x-wold-bike.html)
